12. Silverwell to deploy digital intelligent artificial lift system to improve Alaskan operator’s production

Silverwell Technology Inc. won an exclusive five-year contract with a major independent operator to provide improved production and reduced operation expenditures for 22 new wells in Alaska. Silverwell announced it will deploy its digital intelligent artificial lift (DIAL) gas lift production optimization system in the wells.

11. EPA’s tailpipe emissions standards amount to “de facto ban” on gas-powered vehicles, API says

In July, the American Petroleum Institute urged the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to reverse course on its proposal for new tailpipe emissions standards for light-duty and medium-duty vehicles, which amount to a de facto ban on vehicles using gasoline and other liquid fuels that would drastically reduce American families’ freedom to choose a car or truck that best fits their needs and budget.

10. Patterson-UTI to acquire global drill bit company for $370 million

Patterson-UTI Energy, Inc. entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Ulterra Drilling Technologies, L.P., a global provider of specialized drill bit solutions, for consideration of $370 million of cash and 34.9 million shares of Patterson-UTI common stock.

9. CGX, Frontera make major oil discovery offshore Guyana

CGX Energy Inc. and Frontera Energy Corporation discovered oil at the Wei-1 well, on the Corentyne block, approximately 200 km offshore from Georgetown, Guyana. The Joint Venture successfully finished drilling operations without any safety incidents.
